NAME THAT BOOK
Grades 3-6
This is a school wide contest to help encourage reading. Teachers choose how you want to organize this in your classroom but your kids need to be in teams of four for this contest. Teachers can use assign teams or let students choose but this is their team all year. The teams are encouraged to read the books on the list attached. They are all different genres and levels. In teams they can split up the titles or double up to prepare themselves. The want to know these books well because for the game part of this contest I will say a quote from one of the fifty books on this list nd they have to tell me the title. Towards the end of the school year I will coordinate a time we can have a class contest. Then the winners from the class contest will go on to a grade contest. (Because of tracks we’ll have like A and B class challenge and a C and D contest. Those winners will then move on to the school contest. So for the final round we will end up with two groups from each grade for a school competition. Our librarians have been so awesome helping out with this. They will have a special shelf labeled “Name That Book” in the library that will house copies of all the books in the contest. Your list also tells you how many copies they have down there. The books will also be labeled with a special sticker so kids know they are a contest book. Please feel free to copy titles list attached so they can look for copies in your class library, the public library, and to keep track as their team reads them. We had such a blast with this last year and hope to again!
